1 - Describe your favortie part of the book
My favorite part in the book
is on pages 193-194 when Jeannette was home alone when a man from child
welfare comes to her home. This is my favorite part because of the way twelve
year old Jeannette handles the situation, i'm sure her parents appreciated that.
She knew exactly what the mans intentions were, she told him exactly what he
wanted to hear, and technically was not lying.
2- create three opened
ended questions 155-213
On page 192 Jeannette talks about her and her
friend Dinitia's pool adventure, Jeannette makes the statement, "I'd never felt
so clean." How do you think this made Jeannette feel about her way of
life?
How has Jeannette life changed since entering high
school?
How do you think Jeannette felt on page 213 when her dad
seemed more interested in the amount of money they had made vs
her safety?
3- How do Jeannette and Brian get revenge on Ernie Goad?
Jeannette and Brian get back at Ernie Goad by setting up a
catapult at the top of, Little Hobart Street. They then proceeded to ambush
Ernie and his friends with rocks.
4- Maureen is spared from the
hunger that her siblings suffer because her friends parents basically take care
of her needs and make sure she's healthy.
5- Brian's pet iguana freezes
to death because they couldn't afford heat that winter.
6- Erma
dies.
7- Jeannette and Brian find a diamond ring under a log in the
yard.
8- Jeannette tries to make her own braces.
9- Jeannette
feels like she is failing Maureen because she felt like she wasn't keeping her
promise of protecting her.
10- Rex takes Jeannette to the bar to use her
for distracting drunk Robbie while he cons him out of $80.00
